Admission Process

Documents Required

Bachelor Degree/ Transcript

You can use your bachelor degree and transcript to get an unconditional admission letter. In case you are a last semester student or you did not receive your degree, you can use provisional certificates from your university.

IELTS Requirement

Most departments don’t need IELTS to secure admission. Some of the departments may ask for IELTS. For students without IELTS, university offer their own English Test (SLAM) to secure their admission process. In this regard, you don’t have to worry at all and you can use your English Proficiency Certificate from your previous institute. 

Application Fee

University has an application fee of 30 euro for each program you want to apply. You can pay by your card. Your card must have enabled international transcation. 

University of Milan, guaranteed scholarship

 Pre Enrollment 

The next step after securing admission is to pre enroll yourself at one common website for all Italian universities. This is universitaly.it. You don’t need extra documents to fill out this form. It will require 15-45 days to finally approve from University of Milan and you are ready to apply for a visa. 

This step has some importance because, you can only pre enroll yourself in one university among all Italian Universities. You are also mentioning the Italian embassy or consulate for your visa process. So, select very carefully, considering your country and province and available embassy/ consulates. 

Embassy Requirement

Each country has different Italian Embassy/ Consulates requirements. Some major documents required for the Italian embassy are as follows.

Financial Aid/ Scholarship 

The most important factor for any student is the availability of financial aid or scholarship to cover fees and other expenses. The University of Milan is offering 3 types of scholarships to its students. But at the same time, you can avail one of them. 

These scholarships are:

  1. Merit Scholarship (MAECI)
  2. Regional Scholarship ( DSU)

MAECI- University of Milan

Everyone can apply for a merit scholarship which starts from May- June every year. It has simple basic documents and one statement of purpose to add. It will hardly take 5-10 minutes to complete your scholarship form. 

Results will be announced in August and all the successful candidates will be contacted via email. All the selected students will be interviewed for final selection. All the awarded students will be receiving 8100 euros / year. 

Regional Scholarship

Regional scholarship is the easiest scholarship with a 100% success ratio. It needs the same documents which are required for admission. Its application will start from June- July and end in September each year. Every student who will apply for this scholarship will achieve it. 

At the end of September, they will announce their initial list. If someone is not considered, he can appeal for it within 7 days. After 14 days, their final list will be published for all awardees. 

It has a stipend of 6886 euros per year and also additionally 770 euros for your lunch and dinner at specific restaurants (which are more than 80 restaurants including local, Halal, Vegeterian). You can enjoy these facilities as a master student. 

Accommodation

The University of Milan offers accommodation for international students at discounted rates which are 250 euros per month. You can apply for accommodation in July, while applying for Regional Scholarship (DSU). 

It has more than 8 different dormitories for male and female students. Some of the dormitories are single rooms and some are shared rooms. These are spread in the city at different locations, near to different campuses.

In other cases, if you did not receive any university accommodation, you can search for different private options as well. But you have to be very careful before paying anything. Because there are some scammers on different social media platforms to scam new students.

Airport to City

There are 3 airports close to Milan. These are 

  • Linate Airport 
  • Bergamo Airport
  • Malpensa Airport

Linate Airport

Linate Airport is the closest airport to Milan city center. You can reach via buses in the parking terminal or through metro lines. You can also access airport wifi to locate your final destination. You can also buy your sim card and can change your currency at a little less rate. 

Bergamo Airport

Bergamo Airport is another airport, close to Milan. You can reach Milan by different bus services. These buses charge 10-13 euros to Milan central station. It will take 1.5 hours to reach the central station. You can pay by card or by cash. At the exit point, you can get your tickets or you can also buy from drivers. 

Malpensa Airport

Malpensa airport is considered as the biggest airport among all three. It has two options to reach Milan. You can take an express train from the basement for 13 euros. You can get the ticket from the counter or from ticket machines as well. It will take 1 hour to reach Milan.

You can also catch a bus from airport parking with 10-13 euros and will reach Milan in 1.5 hours maximum.
